Re: Depression and bad dreams after surgery

Bad dreams are starting to go away. My sleeping pattern is almost back to normal, thanks to herbal teas. I cut down my coffee in take to 70% less. Still getting pressure when i go to the toilet but not too bad. Next tuesday would be my next pelvic examintion and pathology test result in three weeks post op. Hopefully , i have no cancer!

Re: Depression and bad dreams after surgery

I am 4 weeks post-op from an emergency TAH/BSO & Appendectomy.

Sleeping has been rough, unless I take a sleeping pill, which I'm trying to not do. I have had really weird, and bad dreams. Most definitely were worse at first, with anesthesia, and heavier drugs wearing off. I'm still having a few though, and am only on Vicodin a couple times a day (crappy pain still). So I don't know that it's the Vicodin for me, or maybe that's it's just the combo of the surgery itself, the trauma emotionally and physically of all of it, and the hormones, etc. Not sure, but I"m definitely ready to be sleeping normally.

Funny thing is that I've woke myself & DH up in the middle of the night at least twice in the last 4 weeks, from laughing in my sleep! Like hysterical laughing, and then moaning bc it still hurts to laugh. DH always asks if I'm ok, and I just say "yeah I'm laughing". Which I never remember what is so funny, but hey glad it's comic relief for everyone lol.

Shae07: i hope you will feel better soon! I know laughing hurts but it helped me in those dark days. Watching funny movie and avoiding anything upsetting helps as well. Instead of sleeping pills try drinking herbal teas like chamomile ,lavender or any tea that helps with sleeping. Take as much nap as you can so your body can recuperate. Hang in there!
