Upcoming hysterectomy 11/8: Blood Loss question

I have a script for blood typing so I am assuming that they anticipate blood loss. I will be having a Robotic ( if possible and it all goes well) total hysterectomy Cervix to Ovaries. I have endo. cancer.
Should I bank some blood? is it common to loose a lot in this type of surgery? THANKS YOU SO MUCH!

It isn't common to lose a lot of blood but it is common to have your blood type determined prior to surgery. That way if you do lose a lot of blood they can make the call and get blood quickly. I don't see a need to have to bank your own blood.

I would have like to have donated my own blood, but there wasn't time. In the end, I did need blood and received 2 pints of donated blood.
