When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

Hi Tracy,
Yep! I have been having sleep problems too. Get to slep after throwing off some blankets and wake up after bad dreams around 4am and then can't get back to sleep...The Doc gave me aTemaze subscription when I left hospital after I asked for some sleep help. Its ratehr mild and worked real good the first night and no drowsy feelings the next day. I don't take it every night as I don't want to get used to taking it. But every few nights I have one and it does help. I do wonder though if it has anything to do with the depression Im getting...But that is probably just the hormones or lack of...sigh!!! Oh yea stay of Coffee and Tea and chocolate after midday...I know the Chocolate one is a hard one to stop though..:-))

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

I also had horrible insomnia after surgery and it does seem to be a common problem so you're not alone! Most nights I could only sleep 2-3 hours if I was lucky and it drove me crazy. I asked my GYN about it and she suggested trying soy products. Drinking soy milk before bed or there are also tablets that you can take. I tried that and it seemed to help a lot. Now most nights I get a good night's rest and just occasionally I'll have a bad night but it's been a huge improvement. GOOD LUCK!!!!

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

me too...I am back from hospital tah on Monday 26th and since can't seem to sleep without temazepam. Try to take just one a night and it seems to last 4 hrs. then, I just lie there trying to sleep. Tried "rescue remedy "(bach flower)and that helps a little. Might try soy when my tum settles down...got a bit of nausea too. Seems that sleeplessness is quite common. Might be the anaesthetic and/or trauma of the op ...feels like it in my case. Cut out caffeine after 2 ish but a bit hard to do with choc lol

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

Oh boy do I relate to the sleep problem. I take the WAlgreen brand of Sominex and that works great. However I worry about becoming dependent on it so recently cut back to only 1 a night. Last night I spent the night at my Mom's and forget to bring it and back to same old insominia. When I do fall alseep I have violent dreams. How long is this going to go on???? I worry about when it's time to go back to work, this will not be good....any suggestions out there???

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

I went through the same thing after surgery and I feel for all of you. It was horrible.... I would be exhausted to the point I could fall asleep sitting up, then when I would lay down, I couldnt sleep. I felt like screaming... I also had some goofy dreams too.

About a week after surgery I would have one glass of my fav wine when I knew I was ready for bed to help relax me... it helped some, however I still suffered. I even had headaches too from being so exhausted. I took Exedrin PM, but like some of you, didnt want to get dependent on taking pills to fall alseep, (or the wine for that matter)

I also tried taking a warm shower before bed and even tried that new DOVE soap that is suppose to help to relax a gal.... LOL

I went back to work last week and it got worse the first couple of days back.... I was exhausted by time I came home and all I could think of was laying down and checking out for awhile... that didnt happen either, exhaustion took over and I got sick two nights.

I am not sure if mine was stress related too, looking back I know I am the type that when its time to go to bed... I start thinking about stuff... and that doesnt help when you are trying to fall asleep. (who wants to think about bills, kids, household laundry, dishes, etc.)

All in all, I think the glass of wine and reading a magazine or book helped me out, more or less got my mind in another place instead of worrying about other things.

Good luck girls, I feel for all of you and know its difficult, we are suppose to get good rest and when we cant its irratating...

here is to wishing all of you some good rest this Sunday...

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

I know what you all are going through. I thought it would never end. I could not take sleep aids because of other health problems I have so I just had to go with it. I'm at 5 weeks post op and it is getting better. I still have 2 or 3 nights a week when I can't sleep well but the rest of them I sleep clear through although I do wake up about 5:00 a.m. So I know that it does get better...unfortunately it may take some time.

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

I have only slept through the night 2 times in 3 weeks. Excedrin PM doesn't even help. I quit napping during the day so that I can sleep at night. I think I am getting 4 hours a night. I am calling my Dr. tomorrow with a list of questions a mile long. If I find out anything exciting I'll be sure to post.

When Am I Going To Sleep?? HELP

It's 5.33 am here in australia and I have been lying awake in bed for an hour. Hey, why fight it...so here I am on computer. I actually braved it last night without pills. Did take rescue remedy tho and wrote down my feelings/thoughts on a note pad , then read a bookbefore going to sleep. managed to sleep from midnight to 3am. Took some pain meds and woke up an hour later. Still better than the last few nights. Am peeing alot though. Maybe cause I am drinking heaps!
