6.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Feeling Sutures?

I'm six and a half weeks post op and recovery has been awesome so far. However I think I am feeling my sutures now? Odd sharp pain in my vaginal wall. I remember my dr said they were barbed in one direction and it feels like by touch that it's the sutures. Should I be concerned? I don't want to call the after hours unless I need to. I have followed all post op protocols. Davinci assisted vaginal hysterectomy 3/10.

Re: 6.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Feeling Sutures?

I can't speak to feeling sutures or whether they are barbed. Some doctors will use absorbable clips to anchor stitches. I do know that we can feel zingers and twinges throughout healing - I had 'em. Healing isn't a straight line, but comes in stages with the healing tissues going through changes along the way. Could be you're feeling some of those zingers.

Still, if you have a nagging concern, or you notice it's getting worse, it's always okay to run it by your doctor.
