Re: Cramping while urinating, is this normal

I had bladder spasms as well. It was very uncomfortable and even painful at times. It lasted for almost six weeks. I am almost at 8 weeks and it is better. I'm sure everyone is different though so don't be surprised if it lasts longer. I was told to watch for fever or discharge for an infection.

Oh, you poor thing. That must have been miserable. Glad that it's better for you now.

Re: Cramping while urinating, is this normal

I had my LAVH on 11/22 and had a spinal along with the general anesthetic. When they removed the catheter the next day I was shocked that I had absolutely no pain when peeing for the first time. I've had exploratory laps in the past and once they removed the catheter I always had trouble peeing with so much stinging pain but this time, maybe due to the spinal it wasn't bad???

However, at day 7 I felt "full" and had to go, while it was coming out it actually felt like someone or some thing was pulling my bladder out of my body!!! It wasn't sharp pain but massive pressure pain is the only way I can say it. I actually had to stop the flow a couple of times because it hurt with the bad pressure it was crazy and scary. I was going to call the doctor but after a few more times of going it started easing up and has now cleared up on its own.

I really believe when our bodies go through this surgery it does a number on everything but it eventually does go back to normal but it really does take time!

Take care,
Sherry

I did. Mine turned out to be a UTI. Never had the burning sensation. You can get an OTC UTI test kit. My AZOs came with a test strip.
