Sciatica Pain after hysterectomy...Anyone Else?

Had a full robotic on Thurs and as soon as I stepped out of the car when I got home yesterday it feels like my left lower back is going to go out. Gas is finally subsiding and now the back pain is out of control. Using a heating pad and ice on the tummy. Is this normal?

I had back pain for a month. It think is was the way I had to lay while recovering. Also I have heard that with your surgery, back pain is common because of the way you are positioned!?? However, I never went to the doc about it as I have had chronic back pain for years. If it gets worse, a doc's call or visit would be warranted .

Yeah I wondered if maybe it is the position during surgery or the gas or something. I had both knees replaced since Aug and the back didn't hurt like this for either pretty sure it isn't because of being laid up. Thank you for the reply I appreciate!

I am being treated now for it and I'm 6.5 weeks post. My GP says I have a herniated disc starting to bulge out. I'm on a muscle relaxer, steroids and pain meds. If it don't help by the time my steroids are gone I'll need a MRI. He said it may or may not be from how I was positioned during surgery. If it gets worse I'd call your doc. I hope you feel better soon and have a speedy recovery. Good luck

Oh my gosh I don't wish any more issues on anyone! I'm so sorry this is happening. Thank you for sharing your experience though! I pray everything goes smoothly for you.

Thank you!! I hope you get yours figured out soon and the pain goes away. Just remember you are at the beginning of a long journey and you will have ups and downs. It really does get better and there will be a time you are happy you had this surgery that changes your body so much. Hugs to you!!
