4 Week Check-up

Well, I saw my doctor Monday for my 4 week check. Physically I am doing absolutely great...he pulled all restrictions with the caveat that I rest when I need to. I'm still taking it easy, and easing back into work the next 2 weeks. The other part is my mental/emotional state. This has been a hard year for me and he thinks my crying jags are really all of this hitting me now. I've been a soldier, gotten through it all, taken care of it, and now it's time to let it all out. And believe me, I've been doing it. I had a mini nervous breakdown in his office and he was so great. I'm upping my Prozac to 2/day for a few weeks, but he thinks I'll be fine. I tend to agree and feel so much better after going into work for the past couple of days for a few hours...I think I need social stimulation for sure! Four walls, the TV, and one little cat aren't much company for 4 solid weeks, huh?

4 Week Check-up

That's great news about your physical update!

I wish I knew the words to say to help you feel better emotionally. Unfortunately - I'm going through a similar phase and am changing my antidepressants to see if that helps.

Please know that you're not alone! We're here for you!

4 Week Check-up

Hi Lisa,
Please still take it easy, 4 weeks is still very very early for a TAH. 6 weeks is supposed to be the minimum. Even though you may look physically well and your incision looks good, you need to remember that you had alot of stuff going on inside. I am now very wary as i had to come home and do everything and have recently had to go back in for further surgery for adhesions and a hematoma. Please dont think i tell you this to scare you.....just to remind you that your body has been through alot and you have to respect it.

You are already on an emotional rollercoaster, most of it comes from the surgery itself as your hormones are haywire, small issues become HUGE issues. You are not alone in these feeling as Noni said, many of us are going through it and if we all stick together and remember to talk about it we will all get through it. You may believe some things are trivial, but you will be surprised just how many women go...OH WOW...i am not the only one.....keep your chin up and remember we are all here for each other.....many hugs to you
