Re: Post Op 3 days

Frisky, hi, welcome to the other side. Sorry you are in so much pain, it is pretty normal. I'll be completely honest and say that the first wk, well at least for me, was pretty rough. I had a davinci on Nov 18, normal surgery was two hours, mine was five. I was really taken back at how I felt after this surgery. I honestly thought it wouldn't be worse than the two c sections I had. I was planning on being back to work at two wks, it's now seven, and sposed to be back this Sun.

If you can get up and walk some, it will really help w/ the gas. A rocking chair helps also, if you don't rock too hard. Gas x and stool softners will become a really good friend to you. I would suggest taking some stool softners now, if they didn't give you anything in the hospital. Constipation and the first bowl movement will become an even, hopefully it won't, but I think it's the norm after this surgery anyhow.

I am not meaning to be negative, just honest, so that you know kinda what to expect. The swelly belly does get better along w/ the pain, it just takes much patience and time. Don't do too much, no matter how bad the house gets, take it easy. You only get one chance to heal. It will get better, and you've one at least one battle by becoming a member here, this board is great!

Take it easy, let others take care of you if possible, and enjoy your time for yourself. Many (((HUGS))) and prayers that you get feeing better soon.

Re: Post Op 3 days

The first week was pretty hard for me too. It is important to take your pain meds on schedule. Don't wait until you are hurting to take them. Also, I alternated between Ibuprofen and Vicodin so you may want to try something like that.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain right now. It will get better.

Re: Post Op 3 days

Hey sis, I can relate. 9 days post op from abdominal laproscopic removal of uterus and cervix. First 5 days were dreadful for me too. I am still needing mym pain meds. Get lots of rest, eat light, think soups, applesauce, miso broth, no white flour. If you don't have them already, get a heating pad and ice pack and alternate. And as said previously, get GasX, Stool SOFTENER, miralax, childrens laxatives (just in case) all fruit Popsicles are great for sore throat, relax, take slow walks every hour or so just for 5 minutes to get blood circulating and to help with gas. I feel better now than on day 3, if that helps. Feet better!
