6 days post hysterectomy - bad cramping, low grade fever, diarrhea

TLH on 4/10. I've been feeling terrible, bad cramping, low grade fever, as of the last hour I've thrown up once and have had non stop diarrhea, but not much comes out- just bad cramping with little gushes. Still have low temp. What would you do? I also have a catheter from bladder thermal burn. Forgot to add. My urine output has dropped by 600 ccs.

Re: More help

Personally, I would call the doctor to see what he/she thinks, especially if your fever is over 100. Hope you feel better soon!

Re: More help

I would suggest you call your Dr. Especially since you still have a catheter. Theyll most likely check fot UTI, bladder infection..I hope you feel better.

I agree with the others that you should see your doctor ASAP. It's likely that the surgical antibiotics have indiscriminately killed off the good bacteria inside your intestinal tract, and inside your urinary tract, allowing a GI bug, or a UTI, to take hold; in addition to what he prescribes, I would recommend a probiotic supplement, including the strain L acidophilus, to restore these good bacteria. Also, because you're losing fluids out both ends, you need to be sure to maintain your hydration levels, or you can become seriously dehydrated. To accomplish this, be sure to have at least 1 cup of fluids every time you throw up or have a bowel movememt, sipping slowly to avoid upsetting your stomach; my top picks for this include plain coconut water, and a glass of white grape juice with 1 tsp of raw cane sugar and a pinch of salt - you'll know you're drinking enough if your urine is clear or pale yellow. If you're wondering what you can eat, I would recommend starting with bland, easily digested foods, including chicken breast, white fish, scrambled or poached eggs, white rice, pretzels, white noodles and well-cooked carrots. Ginger can also help to settle your stomach, so have some crystallized ginger, ginger tea, or flat ginger ale - the fizz can bother your stomach. Other foods to avoid right now include hard to digest foods, like legumes, onions and garlic, cruciferous vegetables, cucumbers, melons, pears, and artificial sweeteners. Also avoid foods that can irritate your stomach, including tomatoes, peppers, coffee, carbonated or alcoholic drinks, citrus fruits, and vinegar. Here's hoping you'll be over this soon, and back on the road to recovery!

The oncall Dr sent me to ER last night. They had to give me iv fluids and meds to stop the vomiting. I was to the point of dry heaving because I had lost all stomach contents. They did Ct with contrast. Everything appeared ok but I have a 3.2 cm follicle in my left ovarie. Which they said could be causing some additional pain. Oh, and noted no uterus, lol. My rbc from urine came back really high, 0-2 is normal, mine was 13. Dr mentioned having three patients before me with a bad stomach bug, thought mine could be the same thing. My fever was gone by the time I left ER but is now back at 100.

Hi, sorry to hear you've had a rough patch w your recovery... I would suggest you still call your Dr-hopefully your Dr has returned..Its possible that you caught a virus but since yout rbs was high, & the ovary, Id still follow up.. The hospital giving you fluids would have helped to control a fever. Dont be bundled up while you have a fever.

I hope you you feel better!
