A Little Concerned

I am a little concerned this evening and this was the only place that I thought I might find answers.

I had my LAVH on Sept. 13 and surgically everything went well (I think). I have not really gotten the chance to talk to my Dr. yet about any of it. I have my post op appointment on Sept. 30.

I thought things were going well. I was starting to feel better and pain was being managed with Ibuprofen, ALOT OF IBUPROFEN. I really have not done much of anything since my surgery and have been very blessed to have my mom living with me so I have really been taken care of. I have started to do little things like making lunch, which was a very easy lunch. I have also been sitting on the couch and just walking more. Well, today my pain is bad. With my surgery I kept my right ovary and had my left removed. The pain that I am having is really sharp stabbing pain that is on my left side that goes straight through my body. I am also having pain going across my lower abdomen and around to my right side. It has actually gotten so bad again that I took one of my very few Vicodin that are remaining as well as Ibuprofen. My belly is also very sensitive to touch but it has been like that since I had my surgery. Also, after my surgery I had spotting for only one day, after that it has been pretty much nothing. I have had more spotting the last two days than I have immediatly following my surgery.

Sorry for all the TMI details.

I would normally understand that I should call my Dr. but after my surgery the doctor/patient relationship has been strained because of the treatment I received at the hospital. So needless to say the office is not real receptive when I call. I am a little nervous that I have done something to hurt my self.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A Little Concerned

(((minnad)))

New pain should really be discussed with your doctor, especially if it is bad enough for you to increase your meds.

Bleeding can occur off and on throughout recovery but can be present when one has overdone it or when there is a problem. If you have bright red bleeding that fills a pad an hour, you need to seek medical attention right away. Otherwise, the bleeding may be normal.

Even with a strained relationship, you might be able to get help tonight from your doctors' office as possibly the physician on call will be one who has not been involved in the problems in the past. Also, after hours and weekend calls are generally handled by an answering service so you shouldn't even need to deal with the general office staff.

We aren't medical professionals so we can't say if what you are experiencing is normal or not so please talk to your doctor or seek care from ER or an Urgent Care facility.

in there!

Re: A Little Concerned

Weiser has said it all, go to a doctor if the pain is increasing. Your health is the number one priority here. I do not know how the laws are where you live, but couldn't you go to just any doctor? even your normal gp might know what to do. I do however understand not wanting to go back. I was operated in a special clinic, and then the after care was supposed to go through my local gyn. both places were awful, and after 9 days he already said I didn't have to come back! Now when I feel something, anything, I worry it will grow into something that needs a doctor, for I do not want to go back. so far I have been lucky. unfortunately you seem to be less lucky. Please let us know how you are doing

Re: A Little Concerned

Thank you for the responses. The pain is not severe so that is why I have not worried about going to the hospital. It is just an increase from what it has been. I really thought that I was getting better and had stopped taking the pain meds all together except for the Ibuprofen. The blood is not alot, probably about a tbsp when I go to the bathroom, it is bright red though. I really believe from everything that I read that I have just over done it and will be taking the day in bed. I really think that I just scared myself by doing to much over the weekend.

I am going to call my Dr. and let them know and also because I want everything documented just to make sure.

I really appreciate everyone being here just so I can have a place to come and speak my fears. I really try not to concern DH with it because he worries alot. But I am now also on his orders to stay in bed.

Thank you so much ladies

Re: A Little Concerned

Minnad ~ I hope you are feeling better today. Yes make sure your Dr knows what is going on so it is in your file. If you have the option to go to another Dr now may be the time to do so. Your Dr should always have your best interest so if you feel he/she does not please find one who will.

Big hug.

Re: A Little Concerned

[font="Century Gothic"]Well, I took everyone's advice and called my Dr. office and got an appointment for earlier today and just got home. I have a bacterial infection and need two different kinds of antibiotics. Lovely, just one more thing to add to my whole horror story. At least I found out and can now take care of this and really be on the road to recovery. I really can not wait to get better.

Thanks sisters for the advice earlier.

Wishing everyone a speedy recovery.
