What would cause pain on my left side towards my back at my waistline. Could this be a kidney infection. The pain goes down to about my hip. Is this normal?

It could be kidney. It could also be from positioning during surgery. I think I would call your Dr. especially if it is sharp pain.

I had, have pain simular to that on my right side and I am 5 weeks PO. It is not sore all the time just to touch. I am going to my GP on Thursday for something else and plan on asking him about my back too.

If this is a new pain or a pain thats bothersome it would be wise to bring this to your Dr's attention as soon as possible.

Pain around the waistline and/or back could very well be a sign of a kidney infection. If left untreated this could get quite nasty.

Call your Dr and get in to see him, if for no other reason, to ease your mind.

stay well

I have had a burning ,searing pain which radiates down my left side. I have been told it is a nerve pain but it is definately positional ie. much worse in bed and can be relieved by standing up. I think all pain should be checked out because I went on to have complications - can't say whether the pain was related to this. No-one other than your doctor can diagnose your pain and you are right it may be a kidney infection or it may be a normal part of the healing process)doen't make it any less painful !). Speak to your doctor and make sure s/he takes you seriously !
I hope your pain subsides quickly and that you go on to have a speedy, uneventful recovery.
God Bless

I tried ice and heat last night and nothing worked. So far today it is just a dull pain. I still have problems urinating ( starting and then continuing). I think my doctors visit is Tuesday. If it becomes as bad as last night I will go to the er. I was def. more toward my back up and around my waist. What happens if it is a kidney infection and it goes left untreated? I hope it was gas!
