Home from the CASTLE

Hi sisters I came home from the hospital last night around 6pm. surgery was a success. No fever, no complications, and to my surprise absolutely no bleeding. Heck if it were'nt for the incission I wouldn't be able to tell that anything had been done to me. I have an abdominal vertical inscission, and I kept my ovaries and cervix. the only tenderness I can feel on the inside is on each side, I guess thats where my ovaries might be, but thats very minor, besides that the only soreness I feel is at the inscission. My doctor also repaired the ugly scar that an unsuccessful c section left behind 18 years ago, now my belly no onger looks like a butt. I was so delighted to wake up and not have any complications like high fever, burning at the inscission, and blood pressure shooting up, each time my doctor/surgeon came to see me I forgot to ask him the size of the fibroid or if pictueres were taken. I had to be at the hospital Thursday Feb22, 2007 at 5:30am, I registered, and was called by the nurse to change into surgery gown and socks, then taken to the surgery waiting unit where they checked vitals and blood sugar, signed last minute papers, then my anesthegiologists came, introduced himself, explained some things, then later started my Iv. then my Doc and his assistant came and saw me, asked if I made up my mind about keeping my cervix or not. My surgery was sceduled for 7:30am, and believe me they was rolling me in at 7:24, they had me to scoot over to the surgery bed, said a few words and I was out like a light. I dont even remember if I woke up by myself or if the anestegiologist woke me. I do remember them having to constantly remind me that I had a morphine pump and I coul press the button every 10 minutes, but I dont remember having that type of pain, I guess thats why I was forgetting, I remember them saying you can press the button now. Well to sum it all up I was scared for 3 years for nothing. Glad I did it!!!!

Hi Peaches

Glad to hear that everything went well at the hospital and for your surgery. Just remember to take it easy and don't overdo it. We get to feeling good one moment and overdo it and the next we are lying flat on the floor going "What did I do". Anyway take it easy and welcome home!

Welcome home Peaches36! It's easy at first to feel awesome b/c there is still anesthesia/morphine ect in your blood. But take it easy, this is the only chance you have to recover well, it's a journey not a destination! You deserve to be taken care of with everything you've been through. Best wishes to you!
