CT Scan...Fistula

Has anyone had to have a CT scan since a full TAH/BSO? If so, what was the reason? I am almost at 11 weeks post-op and I just had a CT scan last night. They think I have a fistula. Bowel into vagina.

I was not scared but then they say if I actually have a fistula, another surgery is on the way....darn!! That sucks!!!

Anyone have a similiar experience and if so, what happened?

CT Scan...Fistula

Did your vaginal cuff open up to allow that? Or was it inadvertantly sewn in? I don't know anything about this but I am sure others will come along shortly.. What were your symptoms that prompted the ct scan?

CT Scan...Fistula

I do not know if the vaginal cuff opened up. They are now telling me I have a fistula from the bowel. My symptoms have been discharge for many, many weeks. It started at week 4 and has gotten worse as far as quantity and odor...yes it is what they (dr) pungent and brownish.

Since i had earliers vag tests and were negative and was told to stop antibotics....i was very concerned due to the continuing discharge and the worsening odor.

CT scan done...and i was told that if my discharge comes out white and milky, that could be my answer...lmao. The barium i had to drink was a banana smoothie and very light...lol
Any...if anyone has any enlightenlightment to the CT scan and results please share?

CT Scan...Fistula

I had a few CT scans after my TVH, but my problems were different. The first showed an infection at my cuff and fluid in my pelvis. Second the same and the third at 13 weeks showed a huge abdominal abscess which I did undergo surgery for. When they got in there I actually had 2 abscesses and they took out tubes, ovaries, appendix and did bowel repairs.

I feel for you if you have to have another surgery so soon after your first. Like I said, I just went through that. I am 7 weeks out from my second surgery now and you know, while it was rough I am doing so well now. I hate to jinx it by saying too much but I *think* finally since my Nov 6 original surgery that this is all going to be behind me.

The ladies here have been a tremendous support and we will all help you get through it!!

Hugs,

CT Scan...Fistula

I Had My Scan Last Wed. I Will Get My Results Back Tomorrow. I Will Also Be 8wks Post Op. I Needed One Because I Was Still Havins Pain On My Right Side. The Doc Said It Could Be A Pulled Muscle, Were Stiches Attached, Or A Tumor. The Only Thing I Am Worried About Is If The Scan Got The Right Spot. Because Its From My Pelvis Up To My Rib Cage. Anyway Thats My Story. Hope Everything Goes Good For You.

Fistula??

I'm not sure if I am having the same problems as you all or not.....I have had some bleeding and lower left pelvic pain. I went yesterday planning on having the silver nitrate treatment for granulation tissue and instead had another biopsy for a mass a little larger than a walnut near the vaginal cuff.....my doctor said she had never seen anything like this (wasn't there at my 6 week post op) and that she didn't think it was bowel but couldn't be sure.

I did the ultrasound thing again today and there is a 2cm cyst in an ovary but that doesn't account for the mass.....

Did you have other symptoms besides the odd discharge?

no fistula after all

Well the CT scan showed that I did not have any fistula but now I still do not know what the problem is with the discharge. I have had all the culture and test that I can handle. I will be seeing the "again" OB/GYN next Tuesday but I have had this discharge now for 7 weeks.

I am just over 11 weeks post-op and they have no answers for me yet. I keep getting staph infections in my nose and that is another annoyance. I just want to be all better...lol

Thanks for all the responses and hopefully we will all have some answers to our dilemmas
