TVH: Will they push your surgery off if you..

are bleeding still? I mean I am getting this surgery because its constant so to try and predict a date when that is not happening would be very difficult?

Don't take my word for it but I believe I read somewhere that unless you are bleeding so much you become anemic, you are good to go.

You may have to go in before and get some blood from what I read.

But again check my advice, I know I read that because I am somewhat anemic at times and wondered if I would have to go in.

As long as your hemoglobin # is okay and you are not anemic, you're good to go. I bled for 64 days straight......right up to the minute of surgery. Luckily, my #'s were good and the surgery went as planned.

Thanks, I had it checked last week and my iron supps are working So hopefully all is good next week.

I just have to say i love this site so much. I am 29 and no one can understand why I am having this done. Its really great to be around people who understand, especially now that Im beginning to really get nervous.

So glad to hear your levels are good to go. I just had to reschedule my TAH due to low levels (7.6) the day before. The Dr. gave me a shot of depo to control bleeding. So far so good. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I had bleeding for 10 months straight through. And, of course, it was the heavy bleeding the day of the surgery. My doctor took the necessary precautions with medications to make sure that I'd be good to go on surgery day. My levels were good that day and on my way to a much better lifestyle!
