question about an outing close to 4 weeks post hysterectomy

I had my surgery on May 16th, recovery is going fairly well. My husband has his company picnic on June 11th, which is an outing at the zoo. The last time they had it there they did a lunch and some activities for the kids and then you can walk around the zoo. My question is being almost a month out should I go on the safe side and get a wheelchair just in case? I feel pretty good about walking and think I can do it, but don't want to overdo it when I'm just shy of a month from surgery either.

If you are feeling good and are walking a lot now, I think you should be fine. I'm sure that there are places to rest along the way if you get tired, right? I walked a lot from the beginning and at 4 weeks was pretty much able to do whatever I wanted minus the couple of trstrictions that I had left.

You're about two weeks out now. How much walking are you doing already? Everyone is different, so it's important to look at where you are now re: walking and then try to make a realistic prediction as to where you might be two weeks from now.

In my case, at two weeks I could walk a mile in 15 minutes. In fact, I walked *two* miles - one mile to the clinic to get my staples removed and then one to get back home. I kept working on building on that and at four weeks, was walking six miles a day on hilly trails. So I would have been fine on the outing you describe.

I don't think you will need a wheelchair at all. Today is my 3rd week in and I have been walking regularly without a problem.

Thanks!

I have been walking regularly so I thought I would be fine but didn't want to risk overdoing anything. Before surgery I was walking 45-60 minutes a day at a pretty brisk pace (walking an almost 120 lb dog at that) so I've been trying to slowly work my way back up to that, minus the dog for now of course.
