i called insurance before to get info on what the cost would be. That was about 3 weeks ago. I was told to remember to pre authorize or there would be a $500 penalty. My dr. Still has not called insurance and surgery is next Friday. I was also told that we need to have a specialty nurse ok this procedure as well. It is so people do not abuse the system. I sure hope that everything goes as planned. I have filed Fmla forms and they have been temporarily approved and substitute has been secured. My preop anesthesiologist consult and last dr consult is tues. Should I go through with it or not? Please send prayers and positive vibes my way regarding this. It has made a very nervous person even more so.
I too am a teacher and I think we are all so used to being in control that when we have to rely on others we get frustrated . I was still without a sub 2 days prior to surgery. It sounds like you are on top of of things but unfortunately we do have to make those extra calls to the professionals (doctor, insurance). I know it sounds like that is something we shouldn't have to do (goodness knows we are doing enough just getting ourselves prepared for surgery). Call them again and keep calling until you get your answers. Remember that this is something they do everyday but something we have never done before. We see more urgency than they do Best of luck to you!

Thanks. I will stop by the office in person on lunch, then they can't put me on hold.
