HELP! Blood clot, post-surgery!

Kind of freaking out here!!

Does anyone here know if it's normal to pass a blood clot on the 5th day post D&C surgery date???

The post-op instructions suggest that one might have a little cramping and bleeding for 2 - 3 days after surgery. I've had very little until now!

I just passed a blood clot and now I'm bleeding light red, not simply the spotty pink-brown like before this.

I also have some cramping. Isn't it way too soon for a period?
Geesh! I did this procedure BECAUSE of all the clots (from fibroids and polyps)! :eyes:

I'm going to try to wait until morning to call the doctor,
though if this keeps up, I may need to call sooner.

I need some Wonderful Woman Wisdom!!

HELP! Blood clot, post-surgery!

Hi again - how did you make out when you called your doctor? Did he/she mention if they removed polyps and/or fibroids when they did the D&C? I had no problems with clots after my last D&C but 8 weeks later I had a heavy period (after having fluky ones for a year) and I called and asked him if he removed the entire lining when he did the D&C and he really didn't answer me - he only said if the bleeding lasted for more than a week to let him know - but it didn't.

Good luck and keep us posted on what's going on.

HELP! Blood clot, post-surgery!

Hi Mary
Thanks enormously for your two good posts!!

Actually, my doc didn't just tell me she couldn't get all of the large fibroid (because it's through the whole uterine wall) but she predicted it when we first did the sonohystegram, and she showed it to me live on the high tech monitor in the O.R!!!, then she told me about it just before I was taken to Recovery too. In fact, that's WHY we're using the Mirena IUD...to try to shrink the fibroids that are left. She did get all the polyps, though.

She's wonderful! Brilliant doctor but also like having a midwife. Her voice is even soothing too.

In fact, she just called me a short while ago and spoke with me about my path report. I'll post a new thread about that, though.

Thanks again!!
