Discharge/cramping 5 wks post op

Hello! I am new to this fabulous site. I am 5 weeks out from tvh & bladder sling. Surgery was just fine but experience recovering at hospital is a different story. I did have to wear a catheter home Friday & had it removed Monday. Developed uti couple days later. Getting better now but today I've had cramping & strange mustard/light brownish discharge. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Hi,
I am glad that you are comfortable and at home.
It is not unusual to get a UTI after the removal from the catheter.
The catheter itself can cause an infection.

The brownish discharge may or may not be normal, so call your doctor.
Are you feeling any pain when you urinate?

Make sure to tell them as soon as possible what is going on.
Maybe you need an antibiotic, and that will take care of it, or it is the sign of something more that you may need to see the doctor for.
Good luck.

Re: Discharge/cramping 5 wks post op

Thank you. And thanks for the quick response! My uti was actually a month ago & after going to the er & getting iv bag of cipro in addition to the 5 day prescription I've not had any other symptoms. Then today, I had the discharge & light cramping. Been sitting under a heating pad & that helps with the cramps. I have not had any pain urinating. I will make an appt to go in tomorrow. This discharge looks like the way it does when you spot at the beginning of a period except it's not the color of blood it's a dark mustard color (best I can describe). I've felt kind of on my own since the surgery so thanks again!
