? for the ones who have already had this done
I have always had terrible periods since I began at the age of 12. I have 4 children who I had trouble conceiving and they are 7, two that are 5 and a 3.5 yr old. For the past two yrs my periods have gotten worse. I have also developed Fibromyalsia. I'm so sick of telling my children "mommie does not feel good", "mommie cannot do that with you today b/c mommie is sick". My wonderful dh has had to carry the load for a while - Most of the time I'm too tired and hurting too bad to even do the everyday task of being a wife and mother. Someone please tell me that this will get better. Most people have said that I will feel like a new person, will I? This has not only caused me physical pain but emotional pain as well. It depresses me to no end that I am not physically able to enjoy my family. I want my life back. I want to feel good most of the time, not just every now and then.

I did not go through what you are going through. I am sure it is very difficult, though.
Many women who have experienced your set of problems have come back to say that it has been a wonderful change and they wish they had done it sooner.
One thing to watch out for is afterward you may be feeling like doing more than a new princess should post op. Some have so much pain that post op is nothing in comparison. So, be prepared to restrain yourself for a while so you can heal properly.
I hope some of the girls with the same problems will come along soon and share with you.

Hi Leslie,
I know just how you feel. For the last two years I have had more or less the same, the last 6 months being the worst. I had my op 8 days ago and feel better now than I have in the last 2 years! and that's no lie. I really wish I had had the op years ago. I know it is early days, but after the op I had very little pain and I have been out shopping (dh doing all the carrying) and I really feel great. Believe me, if you have suffered before the op, you will feel like a new woman instantly. All the very best to you. (p.s. left hospital Saturday, have taken only 2 painkillers since and 1 was because I had a 40 minute flight to do today and I took it only as a precaution!)Hugs to you. pauline x

Leslie!
I am sending a your way.
I also sufferd from heavy, painful periods from the age of 12. Over the last ten years, my periods have grown heavier and heavier. For the past four years, I have been lucky to have 4 or 5 days a month without bleeding. Flooding was a normal part of my life.
I developed fibroids, and they just kept growing. All of my parts were prolapsing, so I finally found a doctor that was willing to do more than tell me that "you are just getting older, honey". (I am only 43)
Five weeks ago, I had a TVH (kept my ovaries) with anterior and posterior repairs as well as a bladder sling.
I am a new person.
I have endured so much pain for so many years, I had no idea how crummy I felt. I was in denial. (How else would I have been able to function???)
The surgery went well. My repairs were extensive, but my doctor did such a good job! I never had pain...only moments of discomfort. I was one of the lucky ones. I dealt with a bit of gas~Gas x worked great~ I was (stilll am, somedays)incredibly tired~~~rest, rest, rest~~~BUT:
1. No more backache (I did not expect this...I have had severe back pain for more than 20 years!!!)
2. No more periods...No more periods...No more periods...No more periods...No more periods...No more periods...
I hope this encourages you.

Hi Leslie!
I so understand what you are going through. I too have had female issues since the beginning. I have two daughters - 10 years and 4 years old. I was very depressed as well because my girls have seen me sick more than being well. I am only 9 days post op, but just thinking of what the future has in store for me is such an awesome thought! No more bleeding, no more pain,(hopefully) no more migraines, and of course, NO MORE PERIODS!
And just think, with the HRT, you will probably get a boost in your libido. My HRT includes testoterone....so watch out DH, be careful what your wish for! LOL!
Take care and my prayers are with you. Brighter days are ahead!

I can understand your situation(s). I also have two five year olds. I have been dealing with this a long time.
Frustration? Hm. It is my middle name.
I am scheduled for a lavh 6/10. I hope it brings an end to this, I'll even settle for less pain at this point.
I don't have fibromyalgia (not that I know of anyways) yet. Other things are popping up as we go along.
Take care of yourself

Hi, I'm scheduled for my abdominal hysterectomy on June 16th. I to have been diagnosed with FM, along with many others, chronic fatigue, major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, to name just a few. I had never thought about this helping any of that, but now I'm anxious to see if it does. I honestly know what you mean about never feeling good. One morning when I had just gotten up and was feeling even worse than usual I said to my dh "I really don't feel good today" to which he replied with a sarcastic snicker, "When DO you feel good?" As mad as it made me and how his little comments often hurt my feelings I must admit that he has a point! My kids too, 14, 9, & 8 have also heard way to often that mommy is not feeling well, could you please let me rest for awhile and my 14 year old has way to much to do because I never feel good and am always asking her to help me with things such as supper, cleaning and watching her brothers! I'm hoping and praying that this all comes to an end! For me and for you!!
Anxiously waiting,
Julie

wow
Even though I am sorry you ladies have had the same feelings, I'm also glad to see that I am not the only one. I have been dx'ed with having fibroids. I think my fibroids actually are the major cause for the FM. And I can so relate to the comment that one of you mentioned that your dh made about When are you ever feeling good.....that is the same for me.
Hopefully this will all be over soon...thanks so much for the encouraging words.
