happy valentines day DH! appt today!

Well, I gotta give my DH some points. I had a appt today with my gyn. I was expecting just to go to chat and get some questions answered, I wanted him to meet the doc and have an oportunity to ask questions if he needed to. and we did that. but then she wanted to do an exam. yay! so my DH sat there very calmy while she did a VERY invasive exam, she pushed and poked and moved and shifted. I felt violated. I know it was necessary, we were discussing the option of keeping my cervix or not. (looks like it will come out too) and the topper? (TMI ALERT!)--- as she drew her hand out, she says, "oh yeah, you started your period" blech!!!!
It wouldn't have been so bad if my husband wasnt' sitting there watching the whole thing. ick!

but other than that, It was a good visit. I got all my questions answered and hubby got a good idea of what I will need done for me afte surg. I feel pretty good about it.

Re: happy valentines day DH! appt today!

My DH was a doll for me through all the visits and consults that I had prior to surgery. He sat through a lot with me and he was there hours in my hospital room in a folding chair no less (don't get me started on that!) I really don't think I could have done this without his pre and post support. Every step of the way he was there. Even drove me all over (really horrible weather so I didn't want to drive) and cooked suppers for 4 weeks! I was fine to do it way sooner. A good support system makes everything easier.

Re: happy valentines day DH! appt today!

I think I am mostly shocked because at first his attitude didn't reflect support. he said he would take the first 2 weeks off and more if i needed. but didn't really talk to me about it. still doesn't say much, maybe thats cos he doesn't really understand all thats involved but I was happy that he listened intently to the doc, turned off his cell phone (his work had been texting him all day!) and had some imput and ideas. I fell in love with him even more yesterday.
what surprised me most about the visit was that I had to have the exam. so I know he was shocked too. but he was so sweet the rest of the day, kindof like "you had to go through that, so lets do what you want to do for the rest of the day"
I am just so happy he is comming around and love my doc for laying it all out on the table about how he will need to be there for me ALOT after surg!

Re: happy valentines day DH! appt today!

I think a lot of times the DH doesn't know what to say or how to act when confronted with issues that women have. However, it is nice to know that they have your back and do watch over you when the chips are down.

Re: happy valentines day DH! appt today!

My DH found the misterhystersisters site really helpful - he even forwarded it to the other members of the household for them to be aware
That site helped a lot in his understanding of the whole process & procedure.
