nervous about surgery day

Hi everyone,
I am scheduled for LSH on Sept. 16th. The closer the date the more nervous I am getting.
I had a laparoscopy in July because of a cyst on my ovary. During that surgery the cyst was drained and the doctor discovered I have a large fibroid in my uterus(takes up half the uterus). I had some endometriosis which was lasered.
Before that surgery when the IV was being put in I was feeling nausea after it was put in. Must have been nerves because I didn't feel that way for very long. I hope that doesn't happen this time. Does this happen to anyone else?
I will be seeing my doctor for the preop visit on Sept. 9 and I have questions written down to ask. One thing I'm going to ask is if there's a big chance for the cyst which was drained to come back on the ovary. I'm also wondering how long the recovery process is.
Some days I feel some pain on the left which is the side the cyst was on and I wonder if it is back. I also wonder if it could be from the fibroid since it is so big. There are also days I feel fine and wonder to myself if maybe the fibroid is shrinking. A lot keeps going throug my mind. I guess I should remember hat after this surgery, no matter what the size of the fibroid is I won't have to worry about it anymore after the uterus is removed. The ovaries are staying since they are healthy but I do want to find out if there's any big risks if the cyst comes back.
Sorry I'm going on and on.

nervous about surgery day

I have been feeling the exact same way. I feel sick thinking about going through this but I know that it is the right decision. A day or two will pass and I don't feel too bad and I think maybe I will be fine not having this surgery. Then the pain hits and I feel horrible for days and then I am like...this is the right thing to do.

I have a hard time with going under...I get really sick. At my last surgery they put this patch behind my ear and I did not get sick at all. They had me wear it for a few days after surgery also.

At your pre op you might mention to your dr that you need something for your nerves when you get to the hospital. When I get nervous I start crying. I freaked a few nurses out at my surgery in April because I could not quit crying. They rushed right over and gave me something in my IV that made it all better!!!!

I felt the exact same way when I had my surgery 8/7. I was really nervous. They gave me something to calm me and I was OK. Also, they put pepcid in my IV to help with nausea. It really helped. I have GERD, so that is why they did that, but if they know you have problem with nausea, mention it and they might do something like that for you too.
