3 months post TAH and now an infection??
Am feeling a bit over all of this...
Have been waiting waiting waiting to feel better and then yesterday MD tells me possible infection.
Scar has always been so good - I blame the drainage tube hole - that was red since removed then noticed some little pinpricks of pus. Then redness moved up to scar same little pinpricks of pus (now this has been going on from about week 5). 6 week check up surgeon tells me it is stitches popping out - didn't seem concerned. Then a cm along the scar started to get another red area. Back to my MD - infected hair follicles. Could definitely see some gaps in scar - MD gave me cream - didn't work.
Last week started getting sore right across groin area (like I had done too much which is what I thought I had done) - didn't go away - just this constant aching raw feeling (feeling like I did not long after surgery). Went back to MD yesterday - she poked around in the 'holes' with needle (thank goodness scar is still numb!!!) took a swab had a blood test and on antibiotics.
She scared me by saying that it could mean opening up scar and cleaning out!!!
I think I fear infection more than an operation!!!
Feeling frustrated with doctors - I have been back about 4 times and just felt like I was getting hand pats - there, there you have had major surgery blah blah blah..
Stupid hairs - ingrown/infected - don't know why they shave them off when they cause so much trouble growing back??? Also thinks could be a stitch that it taking its time to dissolve -was told they can stand up like a prickle and irritate surronding tissue... whatever the casue hoping antibiotics fix me up..
Probably why I am just feeling so yuck and tired and no better than I was pre-op.
Is this common??
