Thanks

Re: 6 days post-hysterectomy - no bowel movement!

What regimen are you doing?

If you can, try some prune juice and orange juice warmed. One women here said the combo will wake up your bowels. Peppermint tea some say helps. Make sure you are drinking plenty of liquids. Fiber if you can take it - too much plugs me up.

If you have not by tomorrow call your doctor. He will probably tell you to take a laxative or suppository. Be aware that miralax can take days to work - it took 6 days the first time and gave me lots of gas. My doctor finally said take Milk of Mag.

The first few weeks don't be afraid to use aids if needed. I found the milk of mag, half a does every other day worked good. Another combo was Walmart has their own brand of stool softeners - one also has a mild laxative. I found one regular and one with the laxative for me produced a regular BM without having to strain much and no diarrhea.

Re: 6 days post-hysterectomy - no bowel movement!

Been there very recently....Raisin Bran Crunch seemed to help, prune juice and as much water and chewing gum as much as i could while i was up. Call your doctor to be sure what they wat you to try but my doc said ducolax....but please, get your docs recommendation.
I was literally afraid I would have an impaction, but it will be ok. Keep working at it. Your not alone. Good luck!

Pear juice can be quite effective too. It took me a while before my first BM (around 6 days I think) and then about the same again before the next one?
