Use the Colace!! I felt the same way about three days post surgery. I was told that pain killers can cause constipation. I wish I would have taken the Colace sooner. I didn't start it until 4 days post surgery and it definitely helped. Stool was fairly soft at first but then it regulated within a couple of days. Hope you feel better soon

I was given a Colace prescription too but didn't take it after I left the hospital, since I still hadn't had a BM. I was taking narcotics and iron, both of which cause constipation. My doctor was talking enema, but a few days of Miralax did the trick. Gas X helped with the gas.

I've been on the Colace for a few days now, I also started Mirilax today. I hope it helps!

Try not to get too frustrated, it will happen. Your system is way out of whack. You started with the loose stools, now constipation. Give it a little time to adjust. This may seem weird but chewing gum helps with constipation. Also to give you a little gage, I didn't have my first BM until day 5 post op in there
