Pain during intercourse

Hi ladies,

I wanted to post in the sexual dysfunction board but it wouldn't let me...

I'm almost 4 months post op and I still have excruciating pain during and after intercourse, with a little bleeding also.

I feel like my sex life is totally ruined, I'm mad and so so sad.

Re: Pain during intercourse

Did you keep your ovaries? Do you feel like they are working? If not, you might be dealing with vaginal dryness which will mean a whole lot of lubrication.

Have you spoken to your doctor? Maybe some estrogen creme will help. Or Replens and lots of coconut oil.

Pain during intercourse

Hi Charlotteel,

I ended up going to the ER ax the pain got worse. Turned out I had an inch long "hole" so liquid was leaking through it, and the risk of organ prolapse was high so they decided to do an emergency surgery at 2am. Still on antibiotics for 24 hours, after which I hope to go home.

Re: Pain during intercourse

Glad they found the problem. Now give yourself time to heal - otherwise don't rush resuming sex. Make sure you are healed well.

Re: Pain during intercourse

(((Mphil66 ))), I'm sorry that you ended up in the ER, but it's good that you went for medical care and that the problem was found. Hopefully you'll heal well now and won't have further problems.

Just by way of explanation, you weren't able to post in the Sexual Dysfunction forum because you aren't yet six months post-hysterectomy. That forum is specifically for members who are six months or more past hysterectomy who are having sexual dysfunction problems directly related to that surgery. We hope you won't need that forum in the future.

Best wishes for your healing!

Pain during intercourse

Thank you ladies...

Hopefully I don't need the sexual dysfunction board no

I had my 8-week follow up with my surgeon, he had done an internal exam and cleared me for everything, sex included.

I don't understand how penetration can have done so much damage - an inch opening - almost 4 months post op.

I'm afraid I'll be forever afraid to have intercourse now. I've always had a great sex life; this surgery has ruined it.

Doc told me 4 months without penetration this time.

Re: Pain during intercourse

At my 6 week apt I asked the surgeon how long the vaginal cuff sutures take to dissolve. He told me the one's he used take four months. So maybe that was the problem. Every surgeon has their own preference for suture material so you'd need to ask this question specifically. It might be a good idea for everyone to ask before resuming sexual intercourse. ???? I'm at 3 months now and I know I'll still be a little nervous until after I hit that 4 month mark.

Pain during intercourse

Hi Mollybear; I think it's a very good idea and that people should ask their surgeon what they use and how much time it takes to dissolve completely.

Any way end result would have been the same for me, cause I had an external exam at my 8-week follow up and my surgeon gave me the green light for intercourse.
