A slim, slim chance. Doubt endo would grow on it that quickly anyway! Keep us posted.

Re: 6 week post hysterectomy check up didn't go as planned

Went back to OBGYN yesterday, he said he was releasing me because everything he had done for me looked excellent. However, he did tell me to call family doctor so I could get to a GI doctor to figure out what is going on in that area. Got home and called family doc and have an appointment with her this morning. Hoping for answers cause nothing (medicines- MOM & MIRLAX) has not worked for me.

It's good you are going to a GI. I had really really stubborn constipation before surgery and I learned that you can take miralax up to three times a day. There are some new drugs like Linzess but people get mixed results and it is very expensive unless you have a copay plan.

Re: 6 week post hysterectomy check up didn't go as planned

Well I went to family doctor this morning. She was furious the obgyn had put me on MOM & MIRLAX, not really sure why but she said that was the wrong medicine cause it was to strong of a laxative. Anyways she prescribed a pill to start Saturday morning. I am supposed to call her back Monday and let her know if there has been any changes.

She also ordered x-rays. One of my abdomen to see how far the constipation is, one of my lungs and heart. The x-ray of my lungs and heart threw me off when they took them cause she did not say anything about that. However, when she was listening to me breath she did it for a long time (more than normal).

Hope to get results of x-rays when I call Monday. If there is no major changes between now and then, she is sending me on to GI doc.

Re: 6 week post hysterectomy check up didn't go as planned

Well I called family doctor back this morning and reported the changes with my BMs (nothing but water). I was instructed to take it every other day to see if that helps. She has referred me to a GI doc, which I go see Thursday morning. My x-rays showed no signs of obstruction, and the only stool was in the rectum.

I am beginning to think that it was something else on the vaginal sonograms the OBGYN was seeing and not bowel. This has got to get resolved fast....ugh!

Re: 6 week post hysterectomy check up didn't go as planned

Hi, Im sorry to hear you are still bouncing up & back w Drs! Your original post was a few weeks ago & most likely if there was some blockage, then things would have escalated.. It sounds like youre in same position as a few weeks ago?

Drs dont tell us much Pre op & frankly, I think many are clueless on all the issues we experience post op.. So what are you experiencing currently? Any pains?

After a hysterectomy, things change.. Our colon moves in a different position to fill the void where the uterus was in addition our colon is sensitive bc it does not like to be handled. It takes time to adjust, but for some, its the new normal. In addition hormones affect us too estrogen & progestrone & digestion slows down. Nerve sensations, twinges, some little stabbing sensations, little pulls, sensative at bladder & colon can still occur.

I say this bc if youre no longer having pains, & you over all feel fine, but appears your not going too much, maybe it's a matter of a dietary, lifestyle change needed from your pre op routine.

After a hysterectomy, we tend to need to work on GI system more. This is a typical issue. Eat apples, prunes, veggies, nuts, seeds. Lite on starches like rice, potato, pasta & junk. Probiotics, yogurt, Magnesium are helpful. Smoorh move tea or Stool softener? Hydrate is important & walks or some exercise gets things moving. Use a step stool when have to go lean towards knees or move knees up, this better aligns the colon. (I wasnt even able to sit diwn to go for 5 weeks bc position of colon & it hurt).

I still get sensitive sensations when I have to go & I feel discomfort if Im not hydrated or start feel constipated. So I know I have to focus on eating some of the items ive mentiined on a daily basis. A friend of mine had hysterectomy 2 years ago & constipation its an on going issue for her & shes a vegetarian.

It sounds like your Gyn has cleared you from issues relating to hysterectomy. Im glad that you're going to see a GI Dr as another opinion. You Dr may order a CT scan? It may be helpful also post on the Hystersisters post op recovery- others that have had surgery the same week as you.

I hope you get matters resolved. Im sure all this has you spinning. Update us!
