LAVH 1 week post hysterectomy Itching!

I had a LAVH a week ago and the the incisions on my stomach are driving me crazy. They look like mosquito bites on steroids (huge red circles around the sites) and are itching non-stop. Is this normal? I don't know if it means they're healing or if I'm having some kind of reaction or what. I left a message for the nurse but thought I'd see if anyone else has had this. Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear that you are having this itching going on. It does sound like a good thing that you put a call into your doctor’s office to let them know what is happening. There could be an infection in the external stitches or even a possible reaction. Especially when any itching, redness, or swelling are present.

It most likely is a reaction to the steri- strips, surgical tape or glue. Talk to the Dr or nurse so they can advise how to treat. It depends on the meds you're on if they prescribe benedryl, topical or if theres an infection.

I am having this itching with red rash also! But I am week #3 after LAVH. I showed my doctor who said this can happen in the first week but is unusual this far out. I am putting an OTC steroid cream carefully around the incisions and keeping the whole area covered with a large bandaid to prevent me from scratching. She recommended if it doesn't get better soon to see a dermatologist....

It WAS the glue! I ended up swollen with red welts across my stomach. The glue is now gone, I have cream all over me and the itching is down to a mild annoyance. Thanks
