Re: Convincing people this is MAJOR SURGERY

Amazing how thick headed they can be, isn't it? But if they had anything as major as a hyster, they'd be lying around and whining like they were dying, lol! At least mine would!! You should see him with a cold.

Re: Convincing people this is MAJOR SURGERY

Seems we are all in the same boat were our Hubby's are concerned lol, My Hubby acts like a big baby but he says different, WHen he is having chst pains an other issues I react fast and say lets go to the Dr because its serious but boy when his mom comes around the Sympathy act really comes out.

My Mom is 84 and she can only do so much but she wants the best for me and she will do what she can. She is a Retired nurse so she will know alot in case anything happens.

My hubby is taking the day I have surgery off then when I get out of the hospital he will start a weeks vacation and my mom will be here while im in the hospital then she will go home when hubby is on vacation then she will come back the week he goes back to work.

I work from home and sit alot so I am taking at least Jan off until I see how I do because I am petrified of getting blood clots and with all the sitting I do im at risk. I just can't wait to see how my hubby and step son take care of things around the house etc. We also have 2 puppies almost 10months that are a handful. The closer it gets the more scared I am getting, Pre-op is tomorrow...

Re: Convincing people this is MAJOR SURGERY

My DH has been great, but one of the things I did was two days before surgery when I was stressing out. I told him how scared I was and that I would not be able to pick up anything larger than out little kitty cat. I suggested the internet videos of the surgery, and I love the idea of ohsothrilled with the needle and thread. Even if you have laprascopic, it is still srugery. My advice is to stay down. The children will not die if they do not get a bath every night. Your hubby will not die if he has to cook, load the dishwasher, and do laundry (my hubby is still breathing, ladies!). Let the dust bunnies grow into full fledged rabbits-Martha Stewart isn't dropping by, and anyone who does drop by, if they sniff disappovingly--well, I'd tell them where the broom and dustpan are! Take care of yourself, so you can take care of your family for many years to come.

Re: Convincing people this is MAJOR SURGERY

Oso's that was a great analogy - I may just have to show that to my DH !

My second week post-op my DH says" What you can't even load the dishwasher?" I was MAD!! Tried to explain myself to no avail.

Later in the week, I felt good so I cooked dinner. The next day I felt horrible, so I DIDN'T. so my wonderful DH says" So what now.. we're going backwards?" Oh boy I was LIVID!

So I came here to vent and found the perfect thing to tell my hubby. First off, we are not going "backwards" cause we never finished going forward! And secondly, let me remove your penis and testicles and sew everything up and expect you to stand there and load the dishwasher and cook dinner! He got a better understanding very quick!

Remember it doesn't really matter what they think, you have to do whatever is best for YOU. They may pout, and complain but your recovery is the important thing. They'll get over it!

Good luck on your surgery! And always remember to pamper the princess!

Re: Convincing people this is MAJOR SURGERY

To withered and anyone else who has a whiny hubby-- You might also remind them that if you ovedo it, you could relapse with major complications. What if you develop a hernia, infection, or adhesions? You'll be down even longer.
I have been doing things and now I hope I haven't gone too far. Does anyone knw if loading the dishwasher at 2 weeks post op could lead to adhesions or any other complication? I feel okay, and I am careful when I do things, but I went Christmas shopping yesterday. Out of the house about five hours. Then I came home, took some hydrocodone, and put my feet up. I see the doc next week- hope to get cleared to go back to work on Jan. 3.

Oh Withered: Lmao is all I can say abut what you told your Hubby about sewing up his Penis
I can't wait to share that with my Mom hehe, Men just never seem to understand unless it is them going to the Dr or having Surgery, Its like for a few mnths now I have been trying to prepare him for what I will NOT be able to do and the response he gave was....
"We will worry about that when the time comes" Im like Whatever and now it 12 days away until my surgery date. Going to my Pre-Op in about an hour, will let you know how that goes.
