Granuloma on cuff- any help?
I'm almost 4 weeks out from my surgery and had to go in to the doctor today. I had started spotting after 1 week and it had increased last week. It stopped Sunday and then hours later I started having the bright red blood and have had it since.
The doctor found a small granuloma on my cuff and he put the silver nitrate on it. He said it should fix it but to call back if the bleeding comes back.
Any advice from those that have been there?

Val -
Sorry to hear you had to have some silver nitrate.
One thing you can do is do a search for the words "silver nitrate" to review old threads on the topic. Hopefully someone will stop by with their experiences and advice for you.

Re: Granuloma on cuff- any help?
I had something similar.
My surgery was in February, 2011.
I had excessive bleeding after sex in late June.
The doctor said that I had a "granulation" problem, so I had to go in for a minor surgery to cauterize the sore spot.
I bled again in late August, and so we did not have sex until late November.
I was finally healed in January.
I haven't had any bleeding since, and we have had sex in several different positions.

Thanks ladies for your responses!
ladybugangel- how large was your spot? Did you doctor say the first time it would take more than one treatment? I was told mine is "small".
suziq55- what kind of surgery did they do to fix your problem?

He didn't say how big the spot was. I didn't think I would need more than one treatment so I was surprised but I am having a rough recovery.

Re: Granuloma on cuff- any help?
My open sore "spot" must have been larger than yours.
He said that he had to go in there and use a laser to cauterize the spot. This would help it heal faster.
Sometimes, it is so damp and dark up there (on the vaginal cuff) that it just doesn't heal as quickly.
Also, I was overweight (190 pounds) and borderline diabetic (A1c of 7.1) at the time.
Diabetics sometimes have problems with healing.
The doctor also knew that it would really hurt to treat this in his office.
I had to go under anesthesia and have a very short surgery.
The healing time was not as long as when the initial hysterectomy was done, but I was just being cautious.
After going through all of that trouble, I wanted my vaginal cuff to fully heal this time.
I finally feel fully recovered and have no problem whatsoever with sex.
