TLH: Tummy Binder

My surgery is two weeks away and was told I need to get a tummy binder. What is it for? Probably a stupid question but I don't know what it's for. I'm getting the TLH so will I need one? What will I need during recovery at home?

For me it provides support around the tummy and back and makes me feel 'secure' if that makes any sense. I wouldn't be without mine. Good luck for the 24th.

Coumarin is correct - it is for tummy support. Not all doctors require one, but you should follow your doctors orders. You can get one here on the web site if you wish:

Me personally, I didn't use a tummy binder. However, I *did* notice that when I turned from back onto my side or vice versa, I had to hold a pillow to my belly to avoid an unpleasant sloshing feeling inside. A tummy binder would have been another way to deal with the sloshing feeling.

Remember that removing your uterus will leave a bit of extra space in your belly, so it will take a while for your other organs to resettle themselves.
