Re: Questions - vaginal pain, washing the area

Yes, some pain is normal. Take your pain medication as prescribed and rest. Walk a little bit here and there but don't over do it! For the washing, I was allowed to take a shower but no tub baths for six weeks. Be gentle when washing yourself, remember that you have stitches inside!

Hello,

Pain after surgery is to be expected. Be sure to keep ahead of your pain medication. The hospital or Dr should have provided instructions-Dont feel bad to call & ask the Dr or nurse. Usually its OK to shower, but best to ask.. The soapy water running over the area. No baths until cleared by Dr.

You can use cold pack or ice packs wrapped in a wash cloth or frozen pads for swelling discomfort. A heating pad wrapped in a towel for pain can be soothing.

Rest & feel better.
