endometreal polyp???

Does anyone know what this is? I called my Dr office and asked about my pathology report... that was one of the findings. I have never heard of such a thing.

An endometrial polyp is a benign growth which attaches itself to the womb lining or sometimes the cervix. They usually grow on stalks and can cause irregular bleeding or heavy periods. A lot of women have no symptoms at all.

They are easily removed if they are causing problems - the doctor cuts the 'stalk' and removes the polyp (generally under general anaesthetic as a day patient - you go home the same day).

These polyps tend to be a nuisance rather than anything sinister, so don't worry too much about it.

I had many polyps removed during my D & C about two years ago. The doctor said I had new ones beginning to grow also according to the report.

I had horrible bleeding before the D & C and was put on Provera afterwards. Well, it's a month to month thing with me. Sometimes the bleeding is just as bad as before the D & C; passing the huge clots, and then other times it's just plain heavy without the clots.

Going Tuesday to get my latest results from my ultrasound and bloodwork.

I wish I had the courage to just get the hysterectomy and be done with it, but I'm chicken. I've got a feeling that the polyps may be back and if that's the case, I might as well have the surgery rather than put up with this for another five or six years until menopause.

Thanks for the polyp info. If you are suffering and through with kids , you'll feel so much better if you get your hysterectomy. I am only 11 days post op and wish I had done this YEARS ago!
The fear is much worst than the surgery.

I had one at the top of my cervic. It is like a squishy tab with blood. The doctor removed it and for 2 weeks I was pad Free!!! Then, the bleeding returned. Hence, after a couple years of fiddling with this birth control and that birth control, we decided to go for the hysterectomy...I should have stock in Kotex. I am scheduled for July 11th.

I have endometrial polyps also. I am confused about them. My bleeding is very Heavy. My cramping is awful. My periods last over a week usually 8-9 days. My doctor recommended a hysterectomy. He says I have the adenomyosis also. I am very confused, but I am scheduled for surgery 10-16-2002. LAVH

Good luck with your surgery Molly! I'm still coasting along here without having made the decision to go for the hyst. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever make up my mind about it, but I wish you all the best!
