Bowel prep question

I am sced for LAVH on 3/29. I have been told can only have clear liquids the day prior. Also, I was told to drink a bottle of Mag Citrate that morning (the 28th).

I figured I would just miss church that day. But, now I found out they are having an Easter egg hunt after church and I'd really like to go see my son hunt eggs.

Anyone else have to drink Mag Citrate before surgery. How long did it take to kick in? Also, anyone else drink theirs later in the day rather than the morning and did everything work out OK?

I had to report for surgery at 8:30 a.m. and was told to drink it between 6 and 7 the night before. I was told clear liquids only after the MC, and no food or drink of any kind after midnight the night before.

It can kick in in as little as 1 hour, but I think it took me closer to about 3 hours and it went pretty quick after that.

I drank mine around 11 a.m. and ended up having to go at 3 p.m. I did have gurgling before hand. However, you may need to stay close to a bathroom.
Everyone is different though. Depends on how good you digest. Good luck.

I had to drink it 2 days before surgery. 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night. It really started to kick in after my second dose. I'd be wary of going anywhere unless there was a bathroom nearby.... it really does a number on your system!

My doctor said to drink it fast and all at once, so that I would not be in the bathroom all night. Once it kicked in, I only went to the bathroom twice, and then I was able to get a good night's sleep before my surgery.

I guess all the docs are different, aren't they?

OH, and DEFINITELY refrigerate it first!!

Mine was the day before. Clear liquids after 9AM. One bottle mag cit 2PM, another at 3PM. It kicked in around 5 or 6 and lasted all night I think you're good waiting until afternoon to take it but stay home once you take it(soon after) because once it hits it really hits.
