I want a glass of wine! How long did you have to wait to have a glass of wine?
I am wondering how long I have to wait to have a glass of wine or other alcholic beverage after a TAH. I am 12 days post op (vertical incision). I forgot to ask my doctor and will be calling tomorrow to find out, but I wanted to see what others have to say regarding this. I am weaning off pain meds now. Hope to be completely off in a few more days. Is that all I have to do before I can have a glass of wine? Any input is appreciated.

My doctor never said anything but I waited till I was off the narcotic pain meds for a couple of days since the info that came with the meds said no alcohol.

My doc told me after narcotics. Remember that motrin and alcohol are still not a good mix on the tummy either.

I had my AH 10/21 and "celebrated" on Halloween with a couple glasses of wine. I was off the narcs and I was home. I agree with those who have posted - if you're off the narcs - Have one on me !!!!

After my 2 week post op my doctor told me to have my DH take me out to dinner and have a drink. He said since I am off my darvocet to enjoy a nice night out...doctor's orders. So, if you are not taking your pain meds...ENJOY!!!!! You deserve it for all you have had to go through. Happy healing :-)
