Re: Pain on left side since surgery

Hi Iris964
I'm sorry you're hurting like this. It's interesting that a lot of members post about having more pain on one side than on the other. For some it's the left and for some it's the right. It seems to be connected to work that was done or where there might be sutures healing. If you do a search on the site for "left sided pain" you'll find quite a few threads where it has been discussed.

Have you talked to your dr about the pain you're experiencing? Sometimes doctors can tell specifically if they did work in a certain area that might be causing you extra pain. I also wonder how much you're up and doing things? It's possible you have extra pain because you're doing too much.

It's very normal that some women still experience pain at 3 weeks. I had some very bad times after doing too much at 3 weeks. It isn't necessarily 'normal' for you though. Only your dr can tell you for sure what is going on. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Let us know how you do and what your dr has to say.

Re: Pain on left side since surgery

B stands for bilateral meaning both sides. You would have had a TAH/LSO (left ovary & tubes). Hope this helps!

Re: Pain on left side since surgery

Morning,

I am also still having pain on my left side... low in the abdomen. It feels like a gas pain and/or bad cramp except it is sharp and does not move position or go away. I have had this particular pain since Wednesday.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. My doctor does not seem concerned. But I literally cannot move around for more than 10 minutes. Sitting straight hurts as well.

Other than that, feeling a little better today than previous days.

This is definitely an adventure! I would still do it again, no doubt, but the recovery has been a bit more involved than I thought it would be.

Thanks, Sisters!

Re: Pain on left side since surgery

I guess I'm just so tired of pain I'm expecting to recover quickly. This is harder then I thought.

Re: Pain on left side since surgery

I am much more sensitive on my right side where they removed my ovary and tube but my soreness is actually right over my tail bone which is where the incision ends and the soreness has been pretty constant but if I think of healing as a 6 weeks process I am not even half way there yet. I also have numbness in my upper thighs , its a weird feeling.

Re: Pain on left side since surgery

My name is Elizabeth and I am about 10 days post op. I had a TLH that left my ovaries. As my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly 3 years ago, and the Dr. wants me to have my natural hormone as long as possible. I was quite impressed that the surgery was outpatient. I have even started to recover quicker than anyone expected. However in the last 24 hours I have started having severe pain on my left side. I define severe as making me want to vomit, as my body's natural response to bad pain is to puke. I have had to start taking my pain medication regularly again as a result. I haven't had to do this since last monday. I thought the fluid retention and swelling was the worst of it, but this new pain has really taken the wind out of my sails. I am supposed to return to work a week from Monday, and am sincerely hoping this pain subsides soon. I want to return to normal as quickly as possible.
