Urinary Infection PRE OP

Hi, So i'm 5 days out from having my surgery. I have UTI, but I'm am worried if I tell the doctor, they won't do my surgery and I have to get it done this year for Insurance reasons.

Would there be any reason why they won't do the surgery? Can I be on antibiotics prior to surgery?

You should give your doctor a call right away. He/she may be able to prescribe something to clear it up. You aren't the only one who's had this happen and most times, meds are prescribed and everything works out so that surgery isn't postponed. Please call your doctor.

I def would say to call your Dr. 5 days should be plenty of time for an antibiotic to take care of a UTI...The last time I had a UTI they gave me something called "cipro" which I only had to take 2 times a day for 3 days. And I felt better less than 12 hours after taking the first pill! Good luck with both the UTI and your upcoming surgery!

I had a UTI, and didn't even know it until after surgery was over. I had 3 bags of antibiotics run through my IV at the hospital, and a week's worth of prescription antibiotics after I got home.

Thank you to all your messages! I got the courage up to call the Doc and you all were right! No problems, surgery still scheduled!

I can't wait, but I'm scared out of my mind at the same time! More about being under than anything else.

Thanks again ladies.
