Bladder pain after daVinci hysterectomy
I am 9 days post op and doing well except for the bladder pain. It hurts to go. Not like a UTI but the longer it takes to empty the bladder the more intense the pain. I have interstitial cystitis and wondering if that's the cause or if it's normal to experience this weird pain

Re: Bladder pain after davinci
I had bladder pain for about 3 months post op. I never had bladder pain before except if I had a UTI, which was not common for me. My bladder ached as it filled, and continued to ache for 40 minutes after urinating. I found I would empty my bladder long before it got full in order to avoid some of this pain. I had urinalysis and CT scans and they were normal. I have been told that the bladder has many nerve endings and I have come to believe that this organ does not appreciate being handled during surgery. I suggest seeing your doctor to rule out a UTI, since these are really common post op. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Bladder pain after davinci
I had achy bladder while emptying that lasted several weeks. I found that slowing the flow helped a bit. Be sure to drink plenty of water to keep things moving bladder and bowel-wise. And if you start running a fever call the doc.

Re: Bladder pain after davinci
My bladder is still tender. The Foley catheter and surgery both contribute to bladder spasms and pain. It will go away eventually.
