7 days post hysterectomy: pain when getting the urge to urinate or bowel; also bleeding

Happy Holidays All!!

Question for the ladies...

Had a Total Hysterectomy and tubes removed, I have been recovering fairly well.

Today, I have been having pain when getting the urge to urinate or bowel. Is this normal?

Also, just went to the bathroom, and noticed heavy bleeding on my underwear. Got a little concern as I really have not bled since the surgery

Please advice? Nothing better that experienced ladies? I will see on the feed back before heading to hospital.

Thanks all.

Re: 7 Days Post

I had quite a bit of pain before i needed to go to the bathroom, just everything was so sore and such so i think thats normal.
With the bleeding, it can be normal but if you fill a pad after just an hour or have a fever go to the hospital.
If any of the pains get worse or don't ease up, talk to your doctor about it.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
Hope things ease up. It took a couple weeks for things to ease up for me.
I would be in quite a bit of pain from my bowels and bladder but after a couple weeks, it eased up.
Hope thats the case with you.
Take care

Re: 7 days post hysterectomy: pain when getting the urge to urinate or bowel; also bleeding

I asked my Surgeon at my 6 weeks check up about pain before going to the bathroom. I still get a really uncomfortable ness right before i pee. She told me that the bladder sits right in front of where the uterus was and so, if it is full it sort of presses on the incision site.

I agree with the other commentor about the bleeding. My surgeon said the same thing. If you fill a pad in an hour go to the ER.

If you are doing too much you will have spotting too. I did a lot of absolutely nothing for 3 weeks and had no spotting...then started doing light housekeeping and started spotting.
