Swimming

Hi everyone!
My name is Staci and I had a hysterectomy July 26th. I was wondering when I can go in a pool. I think my stitches are dissolving because I am bleeding just a little.

Any info would be appreciated!

Have a great day
-Staci

I was cleared by my doctor at 3 weeks. But every doctor is different.

My doctor told me I couldn't get into a pool until he released me and that was at my 6 week post-op appointment. Check with your doctor to see what his/her instructions are for you. As okie_h says, every doctor is different.

Re: Swimming

I live in AZ and have a pool that I usually swim in every day. My doc said two weeks or until the glue has dissolved from my incisions.

But every doc and incision is different, so you should really check with yours!

Re: Swimming

Yeah...definately ask the doctor...we all have had different types of surgeries, doctors use different types of glue, suture, etc. It depends on each indiviual doctor and patient. My doctor still hasn't cleared me yet for anything (oh wait...I can sit next to the pool...but who wants to do that...i can't wear a bathing suit with my incision...it hurts...I haven't even wore underwear in 4 wks...just jammies...lol) and I am almost 4 wks....can't even work from home
