This thread should become its own message board!

It's so comforting to know that at 34 (a Buckeye, born and bred...sorry Texans ) that I'm not 'abnormal' in taking this journey so 'young'. I've been very blessed in that my family and friends are all relieved at my decision to finally have this surgery. They've seen me suffer for so long; missing a week of work a month, cancelling plans because of pain and fatigue, etc etc. As one friend told me, I've been 'stubbornly resolved' to take each step in stride and follow each treatment option to its eventual, (albeit unsuccessful) conclusion.

To think of a life without pain is almost too wonderful to imagine!

Thanks in part to this fantastic site, I'm counting the days till my surgery now.

Best of luck to all you!

Hello everyone!

I'm from Arkansas. I was 36 at the time of surgery, just barely 37 now! I had a TAH/BSO, and so far....so good. I was relieved to have it all over with, and I'm sure I won't be missing the periods! I still have the urge for sex, although no chance of that at the moment! I was sent to a cancer specialist for my surgery, (no cancer, thankfully!) and he wants my OB/GYN to be the one to decide about HRT..... so, I am kind of in limbo about that. I have had some difficulty sleeping, but I think I have just turned myself around...I'm naturally a night owl, I really need to get myself in gear before I return to work!

To all of you ladies in waiting......hang in there....the worst part is the waiting, ahhh the anxiety, and then of course the bowel prep! ugh!

It's helpful to hear about all of you that are close to my age.
I am 36 and a California girl.
I decided today to schedule a Supracervical hysterectomy for July.
My periods have been nothing but trouble from when they started. I had horrible cramps and bleeding in my teens and 20's. A laparoscopy and hysteroscopy at age 24 cleared up endo and removed a fibroid. Dr. also found adenomyosis.

I now bleed for 2 weeks per month, even on the pill. I had a hysteroscopy/D&C in 2/03 for removal of polyps and a laparoscopy in 7/03. Some endo is back and I have a few fibroids. I feel like I am carrying a bowling ball around all of the time and always have cramps. I frequently have people making comments about how I am "expecting" because of my poochy belly. I feel much older than 36 with the heavy uterus. I'm hoping to get my energy back. I spend so much time thinking about this problem that I just want to be rid of it!

Good luck to all of you!
