Insomnia is crazy, but overall feeling good
Three weeks and a cpl days post-op (TAH/BSO) and I am feeling pretty good. The insomnia has kicked in a few nights of late, trying to work thru it as best I can- trying to not watch QVC or HSN while trying to get to sleep. Still have some swelling in the belly, but its a little better every day.
Have also had some nights sweats, but i had some before surgery for several months too. Haven't had much pain, mostly soreness due to the endometriosis that was attached to the pelvic wall.
Trying to not overdue it too much and listen to the body when it needs to rest. Began doing some light housework today and it felt good to be able to do something, regardless of how little it was. I didn't realize I would get so tired, so quickly after the surgery- but it's true that you do.
Having this website has been a great help and I see so many posts from others that are or have experienced the same things I have and it's nice to know that I am not alone, but in great company with many others experiencing the same post-op things as I am. Blessings and well wishes to all my new 'sisters'!

Re: Insomnia is crazy, but overall feeling good
I'mI two weeks post op. I am having insomnia too. My husband can't believe I'm always awake. I'm sure at night the discomfort of moving to find a better sleeping position wakes doesn't help in our sound sleeping at night. I've tried reading, watching tv and so far nothing helps.....hoping for some good restful sleep for you soon.

Re: Insomnia is crazy, but overall feeling good
Hi ladies,
I had my surgery on Wednesday. I am experiencing insomnia as well. There's not a whole lot on tv at 2 in the morning. My friend recommended melatonin. It's a herbal sleep remedy. You can buy it anywhere. It's non habit forming. I'm going to try it tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Insomnia is crazy, but overall feeling good
Insomnia is getting to me too. I also had a TAH so I was in the hospital for 3 full days.. I was up a lot at night while I was there because they kept checking me and there is just so much action. Last night was my first night back at home and I was up again. My sleep schedule is so off base right now... I've been watching a lot of TV and movies now to the point my 6 year old son had to remind me that too much tv is going to make me stupid lol. I started watching Homeland, so far so good!
I also know what you mean about getting so tired so quick. That is one of the hardest things to deal with out of all things. You're def not alone.

Re: Insomnia is crazy, but overall feeling good
Hello Ladies.
I am the opposite.
Not felt any tiredness during the day since my TAH and BSO 16th November and I sleep like a log at night.
I live on my own and have been doing everything for myself.
Hope you all get a good night's sleep soon.
