Simple Saturday June 16th

All!

No big plans for me today. Plan on puttering around the house. I did most of my major cleaning stuff yesterday, may find a few things that need doing, otherwise I am going to just take it easy.

Leftover turkey sausage for lunch. Dinner will be brisket on the grill with roasted cabbage. I am going to cut up the cabbage in chunks, drizzle with a little olive oil, add in some garlic, salt and pepper, than wrap in aluminum foil, toss on the grill for about 15 minutes.

Valorie, enjoy your weekend off!

Hope everyone has a super duper weekend!

Desk, PJ and Nancy. And anyone else peeking in.

Re: Simple Saturday June 16th

HI Kim and everyone

Company coming in today, we'll have cold poached salmon, salad, fruit, and of course a slightly decadent dessert (just brownies and ice cream, some fresh raspberry sauce) I'm picking up the salmon shortly, and everything else is ready to go. All we need is the company, who may arrive earlier than I expected I hope we will time things right!

Had a good walk with today, so I'm ready to face the family gathering.

Have a great day!

Re: Simple Saturday June 16th

Desk,
Hope you enjoy your company. Dinner sounds good, except for the salmon. I'm not a big salmon fan, dh likes it though.

I am having a hard time today fighting the urge to eat some carbs. I just ate another piece of turkey sausage. No chips, no chips, no tortillas.

I just put the brisket on the grill. I am going to try and slow roast it for about 3 hours. I just read the directions and it said it was best to put it in a pan, but I didn't buy a disposable pan, so will just go with it. Dan will eat anything I make, burnt or not.

Re: Simple Saturday June 16th

Hi Kim and Desk,
Desk the menu sounds great, good Job on planning it OP, the brownies are just the splurge. I love salmon, we are having it tomorrow, make sure you are purchasing the wild salmon and not farmed.

Kim-yum brisket sounds yummy, even though I don't eat meat anymore, except fish it still sounds yummy. Cabbage sounds good too might just have to try that.

Food today hasn't been great but hasn't been terrible either
B-GF vegan pancakes-these fill me up till dinner time so figure its ok since it counts for 2 meals, it gives me a break from the green smoothies.
L-nothing
D-green salad, brown rice, adzuki beans
no exercise this morning-didn't feel the best, but just ended up taking an early nap and was better after that.
Wasn't sure what I was going to do today, it was cloudy and overcast, but 70 degrees so found myself in the garden. picked kale, lettuce and rhubarb, washed it all up and is ready to eat when needed. Froze the rhrubarb as don't really need a dessert in the house.
Pulled some weeds, put sluggo on the paths to ward off the slugs from eatting my garden. filled hummingbird feeders etc. Very enjoyable day. DH just left for work, I'm on call but don't think I will get called in.

Thinking on making a salad to go with salmon tomorrow. Earlier this week I made a southwestern potato salad, it was great because instead of the fattening mayo and mustard dressing, it just had lime and olive oil, turned out to be 176 calories for 1 cup of salad. I turned out yummy, so might make more of that, as I am out of quinoa till I go to costco on Wednesday.
Well hope everyone has a good weekend, I might not be on here much this week with having 2 BBQs and also going to the city for our costco run.
Hugs to all
Valorie
