I need Help!!

Hello, I am scheduled for surgery (LSH) early in the a.m., outpatient. I think it would be helpful to provide some backstory so bear with me and sorry if its a little TMI..
When I first saw my GYN for my pelvic pain and he did an exam, I did not have a BM for 4 days. I thought this was a little weird but as he thought I had adenomyosis I figured pushing around the uterus made my colon unhappy. Exactly a week later I had a vaginal ultrasound, it was very very painful, and I told the doc so and this appt. is when I decided to have the hysterectomy. I've had no urinary incontinence symptoms, no leakage or anything like that. But after the US I became even more constipated and I've been dealing with the hemmorroid (sp?) from He** this week, it simply will not go away. I have been a bit more active this week getting my house in order and shopping and such and I've noticed that my cervix is painful the more time I spend time standing/walking. It feels like I'm sitting right on it and it hurts, it still hurts a little when I stand. Basically feels like I have something in my vagina that should not be there. It looks as though my cervical os (tiny cervical opening) is pointing way back toward my rectum and there is a bulge underneath the urethral opening. I don't have any dribbling as mentioned before, but I do not have a urge to go, I rely totally on the sensation of my bladder filling to let me know when to go. Could this be from the adeno or is this sounding like something has prolapsed? I don't have a clue. I am concerned that this may turn into a very different surgery now. I plan to inform the first nurse I come across in the a.m. and the doctor if I get to see him before hand. Do any of you have experience with this? plz help if you can, thank you

Re: I need Help!!

Wow, it sounds as though an awful lot is unknown and up in the air, with surgery coming up so soon. What is the reason for the hysterectomy exactly? Have you been diagnosed with adeno or is this just something the doctor *thinks*? Have you seen a pelvic floor specialist about what sounds like it could be a rectocele, which would not be fixed during an LSH?

I think if I were in your situation, with so much unknown, I would be thinking about postponing the surgery and getting a couple of other opinions first.

s,
-Linda

Re: I need Help!!

The reason is for Adenomyosis (large clots, pain, bleeding, activity intolerance due to the pain), I do have verified uterine swelling associated with that. It is "focul" as I have only left sided tenderness when palpated during exam. Nothing else showed up on the US that I had done. I have not seen a pelvic floor specialist as this is a very new symptom, I would have brought it up with my doctor if it had been an issue at the time. I'm just wondering if this is a late symptom due to the adeno or something else. Thanks for the advice though! =)

Re: I need Help!!

I am not sure on your answer, but sounds like you are going to do the right thing and let them know how you are feeling right away in the morning.

Re: I need Help!!

I would definitely talk to the doc before the surgery. Let them know right away what is happening. It sounds like this is something new so tell them. The doc may be able to give you an explanation about what is happening. Good luck and hope all goes well. We are all here for you. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Thank You all for the replies, I really appreciate it. I will definitely put in to see him beforehand, just to make sure this isn't all in my head!!

Re: I need Help!!

I think you are doing the right thing by talking to the Dr. beforehand. I wouldn't go through with the surgery until you do speak with him, and I would even ask him to check things out before surgery.

Hope all goes well, good luck tomorrow.
