fibroid on stalk

I am having surgery on June 11th remove a large fibroid growing on a stalk OUTSIDE my uterus. Has anyone else had surgery to remove this kind of fibroid? I am concerned because it seems a little more complicated than removing a uterus that has fibroids in it. I am worried about bleeding.

fibroid on stalk

Did the doctor tell you it was harder? Actually, when the fibroid is on a stalk it makes the myomectomy easier. It's a fairly common surgery. I don't think you will necessarily bleed more- a hysterectomy has the potential for bleeding also.

I had a fibroid on a stalk (the largest one I had) plus dozens of others. When I was younger I considered having the one on the stalk removed before my second pregnancy. My doctor said it would be easy to do. I decided not to do it and 10 years later I had a hysterectomy. I did lose a lot of blood , but I recovered easily from that. If you are still worried, consider asking family members with the same blood type to donate for you.

Cherry Picking

My doc was actually hoping that my fibroid was this type. He said it was the easiest to remove - "just like picking a cherry off a tree" were his words.

Unfortunately for me, the fibroid was buried deep in muscle and I had endo. But I will be praying that everything goes well for your surgery!!

Prayers sent your way!
