To all you LIW...

At ten months post op, I finally had my "wow, my life has really changed moment" yesterday, and I wanted to share.

Several weeks ago I purchased tickets to see one of my favorite bands in concert. The "big day" finally arrived yesterday, and I could barely contain my excitement. I made a trip to the restroom yesterday morning, and my heart immediately sunk! You see, I kept my cervix and ovaries, and I'm one of the few women that has mini periods. And what did I see yesterday morning but a few spots of brown blood on the tissue. Oh no, my big evening is going to be destroyed by massive cramps, heavy bleeding, and huge clots. I'll have to cancel my big plans.....!

BUT WAIT!! I've had my surgery, and those few minor spots mean nothing. I'm not going to have cramps, I'm not going to bleed profusely! I am GOING to that concert, and I'm GOING to feel GREAT, not terrible! Two or three spots are simply a "hello, we're still working" from my ovaries, and by time to leave for the show my "mini" had bid farewell until next month.

I wanted to call my doc and scream "THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME MY LIFE BACK!" at the top of my lungs. It finally clicked in my mind that my life has forever changed, and the years of pain and "no I can't go, can't risk it" due to excessive bleeding are over.

The concert was awesome, something that I would have had to skip in the "old days".

Hang in there, ladies. I hope that you each find resolution for you medical difficulties.

Lisa,

Your post was wonderful!

I can really identify - I had to step out of a private David Bowie concert because of terrible cramping and "bleedthrough" (I spose it serves me right for wearing light coloured pants). I was not impressed.

But thankyou so so much, for letting the rest of us know how wonderful it is not to have that same worry! Your post really brightened up my morning.

Take wonderful care of yourself, Lisa

Lisa,

What great post! Thank you. You gave me a big laugh to start my day.

I'm so happy for you.

I wonder, do we ever stop doing the 'toilet paper check'?
