New pain

Hi, I am scheduled for my TAH on 6/24/03 (almost there!). 2 days ago I started with pain in my back that goes around to my abodomen. It then shoots down into my left leg. Has anyone else had this. The only other time I had pain like this was last month when I started bleeding again. Help!

New pain

What are you having the hyst for? Is it fibroids? There have been some descriptions like yours from ladies who have large fibroids. If no one with that experience replies (and it is early yet) do a search on lowerback and leg pain, and on fibroids.

New pain

Hi Shelia

I think that I have had that pain a few years ago. Mine started in my lower back on the right side, and went all the way down my leg. The doctor said I had siatic(sp?) nerve pain. She gave me some pain meds and had me do a series of exercises to help strenghthen my back and legs. I couldn't start them, though, until I went through a battery of tests and stayed off my feet until this particular time the pain went away. I was given a Toradol shot at the hospital and then some vicodan to use at home.

I still get it once and awhile, but over time it has subsided to having it only a few times a year.

You may not have this problem and I do feel it is best to call the doctor about anything unusual, especially painful things. Let us know what happens!

Sending you a big

Patty

New pain

I had the same pain before my hysterectomy on 4/23/03. I must tell you that I no longer have that pain after three years of having it. I had two large fibroid tumors that were putting pressure on nerves.

New pain

Been there doing that I have that pain every time I ovulate or start bleeding. My dr said it is from my ovaries and uterus putting pressure on my nerves. Go figure....but if this is new for you, ask your dr. Maybe if you call them they can prescribe some relief for you.

New pain

I had that type of pain before my surgery. Every month I would get horrible pain that would go into my left hip, then on down into the leg. I had fibroids and adenomyosis. My uterus was so large and heavy that it was pressing on nerves causing the leg pain. I dealt with it every month for 6 months, until finally having my surgery. I had pain before then, but the leg pain was new to me and was actually what convinced me to see a doctor about all of my gyn problems.

I was never able to find anything that helped on my own. I tried heating pads, 800 mg of ibuprofen (with drs ok), hot baths to soak, and eventually the doctor put me on vioxx 50 mg which is the highest dose. That did take the edge off the pain until I could have my surgery.

Hopefully your surgery will take care of the pain. I know it did for me! Until then, call the drs office and let them know the problem. Maybe they can offer an RX to help you out until the 24th
