What to take to castle?

I've copied and pasted from one of my earlier posts. Hope it helps!

THINGS I DID USE:
- TUMMY PILLOW!!
- backscratcher
- lip balm
- slippers
- my own night shirt/sleepwear
- oversize cotton 'unders' (comfy panties)
- pads (also used to protect my panties from the incision site drainage)
- toothbrush and toothpaste
- shampoo and conditioner
- comb/brush
- facial cleanser (I don't use soap on my face)
- Q-tips (to swab my ears after the shower)
- deoderant/antiperspirant (for after shower)
- lightweight cotton robe
- lotion
- ponytail holder (something to keep your hair from bugging you)
- some gals have also suggested bringing a PHONE CALLING CARD – great idea!

things I did not use:
- mirror (I did not care what I looked like!)
- socks (because I brought slippers)
- book to read (never felt like reading -- I was asleep every 20 minutes or so anyway)
- game to play (didn't feel like playing - TV kept me occupied between snoozes)
- change of clothes (I wore the same clothes leaving the castle as I wore when I checked in -- I just did not worry about the fashion police at that point)

...and I can't think of anything I should have brought but didn't...

NO VALUABLES!!!

Best wishes for you as you approach the castle!

What to take to castle?

To add to Toonse's great list:

An inexpensive little radio or cassette player with headphones (I got a radio for $10 and stuck it on my favorite station) - I listened to music a lot!

If you go to the pull down menu on the top right side of the page, select HS Hints/Helps, then go to the Ladies-in-Waiting section, you'll find some great tips on what to bring.

Best to you for a smooth stay and fast recovery!

What to take to castle?

rox,I packed this decent sized overnight case, full of all kinds of stuff, and ended up using almost none of it

what I was thankful for were 3 small, squishy throw pillows..great for tucking in spots under my neck,or under my iv arm,the small of my back,or wherever..

lip balm is a must!

and rolls of peppermint lifesavers!! I had my husband bring me a mug from home,I dropped a lifesaver in the water, and left an extra toothbrush in it all day,at bedside..at times,I felt absolutely gross from the medication, the anesthesia blowing off from my lungs, etc, and it was great to be able to swish that minty toothbrush around my mouth, without having to get up and try to make it to the bathroom...just change the water a few times a day,and its okay, the lifesaver takes all day to melt in there, just leave it at the bottom.

ditto what toonces said,I had no reason for a hand mirror,I probably would have never been the same again
