actual surgery

So, I got my surgery date, and I have been reading all these different post. I am not scared about the afters of the surgery or that I have to have it done. What I am terrified of is the actual surgery. I read this stuff about donating your blood incase they need it etc. Now I am freaked that I am going to die during surgery. I know that may sound silly to some of you, but I keep thinking gosh, what are the chances. I have had 3 other surgeries in my lifetime, but those were more emergency things, so I didn't have time to fret. This surgery is not until December 11th and I am having a TVH and a bladder sling done. I am just nervous about what could happen during the surgery. I haven't gotten past that yet to worry about after. lol

Hi HKC,
I had a TVH amd my Doctor didn't have me donate any of my blood for this surgery. It really is the easiest surgery out of all of them. I went home the afternoon after I had mine. Recovery was fairly easy....just bored from not being able to clean and lift things...I am a clean freak...LOL. I hope reading some of the things doesn't scare you to much...I have read where some of the girls don't read everything on here so they don't read horror stories that some have had....you can read all of that while you are recovering.
Hope everything works out for you and good luck.

About 15 years ago, when I had bile duct surgery, the surgeon recommended I pre-donate blood for myself so, this time, I asked the surgeon this time about that. He said it really wasn't necessary--this is a much more routine, much less delicate surgery. So I didn't do it. Didn't need it anyway, turns out.

As for the actual surgery, sure, I was nervous. But I tried to use my four previous surgeries under general as experience for this one. I think it helped--I wasn't as nervous as I might've been. This was a different hospital, with different "rules" but it was still basically the same.

I have had 14 surgeries in my 29 years of being on this great planet and my hyst was the only one i was ever truly nervous about.I have had 10 eye surgeries and you think i would be worried about going blind with tose but i never was.with my hyst I just kept thing what if this or what if that i had my self really worked up.but then at my pre op my doctor sat me down and went step by step what would be done and if this happens then we will do this and if that happens we will do this.it really help me to know that if the what if's happend my doctor knew what to do.i know that all doctors know how to be doctors it just help me to know what excatly would be done.my doctor also said that i did not need to donate blood but it made me feel better knowing that it was there so i did.It feels great to be on the other side hang in there sister,
