Surgery scheduled

I just joined this group! I love reading all the discussions. I am scheduled for mine on April 13th. I have had it scheduled for 3 weeks. After 4 days of anxiety attacks, not sleeping, yelling at my husband and kids and basically freaking out---I called my dr and am now taking .25 mg of zanex before bed. I am sleeping like a baby and waking up calm and settled! I have a history of anxiety attacks that come and go but I have never wanted to be on a daily med but this has worked wonders!!!

Re: LSH scheduled

Hi ramseycl and

We’re happy to make your acquaintance! You will discover a ton of solid information on the site, and members with unlimited cyber-hugs to dispense and experiences to share with you at every stage of your journey to good health!

If you haven’t already done so, please do yourself a favor and register to receive Hysterectomy Checkpoints. It’s one of the best features of the site, in my opinion -- designed to accompany you through the entire hysterectomy experience from start to finish, and beyond!

You can take the opportunity to prepare yourself for what’s ahead by reading the Pre-Op Articles. You might find the following particularly helpful:

Coping With Pre-Op Anxiety & Fear

How Others Can Help

You might benefit from browsing through the Tell Your Hyst-Story section. The stories are sorted by the type of surgery that was performed so it's easy to find those that tell about the type of hysterectomy you are scheduled to have.

Through the years, hundreds of women have shared their personal suggestions in Hints from Members that you may also want to peruse.

Rest assured you have come to the right place. Best wishes as you prepare for your trip to the Castle!

Re: Surgery scheduled

ramseycl~

I also took Xanax before surgery because I couldn't get my anxiety under control and it was affecting my job and my family. I'm glad it's working for you. It worked for me too.

I hate to see so many women on this site fighting anxiety. While it's probably not a good thing to promote drugs here, they do at times serve a purpose. I haven't had anxiety or Xanax since I had surgery.

Best of luck to you in your upcoming trip to the castle!
