Finally a princess!!!

After the first surgery was canceled last month due to the flu, we finally did it!!

I'll post my story later, but I just wanted to offer my encouragement to all the l-i-w. Waiting is truly the hardest part.

I had a TAH, vertical incision, kept only my ovaries. The fibroid was much larger than anticipated (a little bit larger than a soccer ball) and so heavy that the dr. needed help in lifting it out. Imagine carrying that thing around for so many years!

My biggest concern was the pain immediately afterward. There was mild discomfort, that was it. I was on a morphine pump for the first 24 hours, then Motrin. I was up walking around the hospital floor about 8 hours after the surgery.

Here it is, 48 hours later, and I'm home. Drinking lots of juice and walking as much as possible.

I too live in Arizona (Peoria). Glad to hear you're at home and doing good! I'm scheduled for a TAH-BSO on 1/20. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm mostly scared of the pain after surgery. Take care of yourself! Write again when you're feeling up to it! I'll check for your posts on the post-op side.

I'll be at the same hospital. Good to know the staff is incredible! Yes, I'm also hoping for as little pain as possible.

About your fibroid! My Goodness! My largest one is about the size of a grapefruit and I'm so ready to get it out! I just can't image how you must have felt with that thing inside you. You probably DO feel much better now! Again, good luck with your recovery and after next Tuesday, I'll see you on the post-op side.
